- 5 ripe pineapple guavas
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup of water
- Ice cubes (for serving)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Wash the pineapple guavas and slice them in half. Place in a mixing bowl.
- Combine the sliced guavas with granulated sugar in a clean glass jar. Stir well and let sit for about an hour.
- In a saucepan, mix the guava-sugar mixture with apple cider vinegar. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly, then strain the syrup into a clean bottle and store in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Store the shrub syrup in the fridge for up to 3 weeks for best flavor.
- This syrup makes excellent mixers for cocktails or can be enjoyed with soda water as a refreshing mocktail.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves or fruit slices for added flavor and appeal.
