- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup chopped scallions
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
- Cooked rice or noodles for serving
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and prepare garlic, ginger, onion, and scallions for easy cooking.
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger, sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet. Break apart and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in soy sauce, honey, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes for flavors to meld.
- Remove from heat; stir in chopped scallions. Garnish with sesame seeds.
- Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles. Optionally, add side salads or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave, adding a splash of water or broth for moisture. Can be frozen for up to 2 months for longer storage.
- Customize the spice level by adding more red pepper flakes or sliced chili peppers.
- Pair with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete Korean-inspired meal.
