Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe peaches (or 1 cup of peach purée)
- 4 cups of water
- 2–3 black tea bags (or green tea for a different flavor profile)
- 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for a tangy kick)
- Ice cubes
- Fresh peach slices and mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by peeling and pitting the peaches. Blend the peaches in a food processor or blender until smooth to create a fresh peach purée. Set aside.
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Steep the tea bags in hot water for about 5 minutes or until strong enough. Remove the tea bags and allow the tea to cool to room temperature or chill in the refrigerator.
- While the tea is cooling, add the honey or agave syrup into a small bowl along with the lemon juice. Stir until well combined. This enhances natural sweetness and adds a citrus note.
- In a large pitcher, combine the cooled tea, peach purée, and sweetener mixture. Stir thoroughly to blend all flavors. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary. Chill the mixture for at least 2 hours to meld flavors.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the homemade peach iced tea into glasses and garnish with fresh peach slices and mint leaves for an elegant touch. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Keep leftovers in an airtight container or pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir well before serving as separation may occur.
- You can substitute green tea for a different flavor profile or use canned peaches, but fresh peaches yield a more vibrant flavor.
- For vegan or sugar-free versions, replace honey with agave syrup or stevia, and choose a plant-based tea.
