Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- Oil for frying
- Glaze of your choice (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warmed milk and wait for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Gradually add the yeast mixture and beaten eggs to the flour mixture. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough and cut it into donut shapes. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Notes
- Store the donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- Refrigerate for up to a week or freeze unglazed donuts for longer storage.
- Allow frozen donuts to reheat in the oven before glazing.
