Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream or full-fat milk
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients, dice the onion, and mince the garlic.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
- Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, and basil. Simmer for 5-7 minutes to meld flavors.
- Meanwhile, cook the orzo pasta in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and add to the skillet with the sauce.
- Pour in the heavy cream or milk, stir well, and simmer for another 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Adjust seasoning, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- Use freshly minced garlic for the best flavor.
- Cook orzo until al dente for optimal texture.
- Add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
- Adjust the amount of cream to desired thickness.
