I know I'm late to the party, but I'm thankful for this program. There are a ton of recipes here that are like what my mom and grandma taught me. Brings back many fond memories.
Thank you for another great cheap meal ! Its May 29, 2022 and even Hambuger has went up to $5.98 a pound here in Montgomery County , Texas . Its becoming so hard to make really anything with prices going up daily / weekly. Thats why i pulled a frozen turkey i had from Christmas 2021 where i paid 49 cents a pound . ITS GETTING VERY HARD . GOD BLESS YOU MRS. BECKY … Josette Tharp Montgomery County , Texas 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are such a sweetheart and love and watch your channel all of the time. I have a question. When making a recipe that requires starch how do you choose between corn starch and potato starch and rice flour and regular flour and buckwheat ugh! Lol
I absolutely love your videos. I'm a cook myself and have been since about age 9. Growing up on a big cattle ranch, 3 meals a day were always served. We had 5 in our family but the ranch hands had to eat too. People were always dropping in for some important reason or another especially around the noon meal, which was served at 12 oclock everyday. Can't ever remember running out of food or not having enough no matter how many stopped by to eat. Mama had this huge electric skillet we used for frying meat because it cooked it just right and held a lot more than a regular size skillet. I'd stand on a red crate, think was a milk crate and fry at least 2 chickens for the noon meal. Usually when the chickens were cooked, I'd fry a big platter of venison, like CFS, but more tender and tasty. Usually took at least 3 big platters of meats for that noon meal. I can't remember one day I didn't cook potatoes as a side to the meats. That was just a given. Thank goodness Daddy always planted 3 r 4 big gardens and we had plenty of veggies year round. I tried to find different ways to cook those new potatoes but the guys loved them either mashed skins on or just washed and boiled with lots of butter, salt, pepper. Well they liked them cooked in white cream sauce too. Yeah at 9 years old during the summer I'd be in that kitchen all day everyday, and in one of the gardens with Daddy most evenings digging potatoes or picking peas, gathering bunches of green onions before starting the supper meal. Was hard work especially for a child but I miss those days, I loved cooking for a lg group of people everyday. And believe me I was usually the star out there too. .Everybody likes a good home cooked meal and a peach cobbler or cream pie.
Thank you, great recipe! By the way, you said "greazy" in the very beginning. I used to say that but my ex-girlfriend got on my case (she's from New York) and said that I'm saying it wrong, that it's greasy with an S not a Z. Now I know where I picked it up. My mom's side of the family is from the south. 😊
