- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir into the wet mixture.
- Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, being careful not to over-mix. Stir in the remaining chocolate chips.
- Spoon the batter into a greased donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Store any uneaten donuts in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for about a week.
- These donuts can be frozen for up to 2 months; just reheat in the microwave.
- For serving, pair with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a cup of coffee.
