Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir into the wet mixture.
  4. Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, being careful not to over-mix. Stir in the remaining chocolate chips.
  5. Spoon the batter into a greased donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar.
