  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup fresh tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Optional: pepperoni slices, bell peppers, onions, etc.

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast, and let rest for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and salt, then create a well in the center to add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms, and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Once the dough has risen for about 1 hour, preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Place on a greased baking sheet and spread pizza sauce evenly.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add desired toppings like fresh tomatoes and basil.
  5. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Remove, let cool slightly, slice, and serve hot.
