- 4 large yams, peeled and sliced into rounds
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Optional: caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
- Arrange yam slices in a single layer in the dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until smooth and thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the yams.
- Sprinkle chopped pecans over the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, until yams are tender and caramel is bubbling.
- Remove from oven, drizzle with extra caramel sauce if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt before serving.
- Best enjoyed warm, can be made a day ahead and reheated.
