  • 4 large yams, peeled and sliced into rounds
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • Optional: caramel sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Arrange yam slices in a single layer in the dish.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until smooth and thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the yams.
  5. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the top.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until yams are tender and caramel is bubbling.
  7. Remove from oven, drizzle with extra caramel sauce if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt before serving.
