Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Mix the warm milk and sugar in a bowl, then sprinkle the active dry yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, create a well, and pour in the yeast mixture along with melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until the dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the risen dough, transfer it to a greased cake pan, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with berries or whipped cream.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For longer storage, freeze wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil for up to 3 months.
- To enhance flavor, consider adding lemon zest or spices like cinnamon.
