Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of unsalted butter until melted and simmering.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes, then add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth and glossy.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper, and pipe mounds of dough onto the tray. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- In a mixing bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
- Once the cream puffs are cool, cut a small slit in the bottom of each puff and fill with whipped cream. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For optimal texture, fill the cream puffs just before serving.
- Consider adding flavored extracts to the cream filling for a unique twist.
- Store baked cream puffs in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
