I'm surprised that Crew is not jumping on the counter helping you strip them bones of meat. Laughs. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing. There are some tough times coming for those of us that are not rich.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIitNqXI2gU the stream looks like you can do berms and swales, following your land contours. here are some desert fruits you can plant on the berms. you can also plant grape vines, passion fruit, whatever.
i remember going to the butcher and buying the bones left over. My mom made a deal with the butcher he would keep them for our family. These were put in a large pot and made broth, then large cut carrots, potatoes, tomatoes and spices, then shell pasta was added. our favorite meal.
Bone broth is very popular here in the Philippines. We call it "bulalo." We usually have a big pot and cook it over a charcoal stove. Thanks guys for sharing your life with us through the internet.
Also Enjoying your videos, however just a surgestion as not sure if you have tried it or not. In stead of plastering with your hands that seems to take for ever, have you tried using a stucosprayer, as they did in this video.
This a a slippery slope you guys. Fighting for water right and use all the while supporting the very destructive cattle industry is hypocritical. Trying to grow food in the desert is irresponsible. No better than the giant farmers. But I still love watching your videos.
Save your veggie skins and ends. Freeze then and then add those in for the broth. It is a great way to use up the parts of veggies we don't typically eat. They still go to the compost after but much more broken down.
Ten/fifteen years ago I started turning my turkey carcasses into broth. I recover an amazing amount of meat and at least 4 to 6 quarts of broth. Makes the best Turkey Tortilla soup.
How long does it last? Like yogurt doesn't really ever go bad even though they put a "use by" date. I've eaten yogurt a year past its date. Bone broth cartons from retail stores has a date on it and I bought a whole case of it for my roasts. Well, It's just me, so here I am a few years past the use by date and I'm kicking like a tiger.
Extracting nutrients way to go!!! Jess do you make fish soup stock using a fish head such as salmon or trout?? I think a fish head would be high in nutrients. What do you think? Look at those trim arms on Jim. He has a ways to catch up to you Jess!!!! See ya in the next one!!! Jess what is happening on the farm with Humanure? (human manure) Are we on board with this??
So there is an old recipie made from the hooves of animals, i.e cow hooves, horse hooves, deer ect. Aspic, hooves and chicken feet have natural cologne that creates like a gelatin. Also, if you dehydrate chicken feet ( if you raise your own meat birds) they make a great dog treat/chew. Aspic is a great way to use the types of meat you are getting from the butcher.

Technically, if you simmer the bones long enough, you can eat the bones as well. Especially if it's chicken broth. Also, when you just throw out the bones, some meat goes with them. That meat falls off when to make bone broth.
I had a friend that thought me a meat broth that I like. It may not be as cheep but it is a good change of flavor. Plus lots of meat for other meals. They called it Dope-a-greet-a no idea how to spell. Take a pork roast and beef roast put in big roasting pan crock pot. Cook for a couple hours until meat is beginning to fall apart add link sausage I use breakfast but any kind would be good. Continue to cook until sausage is cooked. Remove meat, separate if you choose to use later. Then use the broth. If you try it let me know what you think or reach out if you have questions. Enjoy

I love seeing more and more people instead of complaining only, helping each other with almost anything you can think of. It is heartwarming to see. Thank you, I have some meaty bones in my freezer that have found a good use.
Time to start the hallway and second dome . Lol you don't weigh enough. Bone broth with lots of fat, butter on everything. Lots of homemade chicken stew. A high nutrition diet. I'm 5ft7 barely I'm healthy at 155 to 185 at 141 I was way too underwieght now im Back to overweight. Lol did I hear you correctly 135lbs. Are you still afraid a Gabion wall will collapse the basement? I really think it will tie everything together. But I'm just watching from home not kicking shovels and climbing ladders like an Egyptian. Lol
We all need to get
" closer to our food "
Thank You for giving us good ideas 😋
