  • Total Time: 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 donuts 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Frosting of your choice
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and roll out to about ½ inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts and place them on a floured baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add donuts and fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and place on a cooling rack.
  6. Once cooled, frost with icing and top with colorful sprinkles for decoration.

Notes

  • Store frosted donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Un-frosted donuts can be frozen for up to a month; just wrap them tightly.
  • Pair well with morning coffee or tea, perfect for gatherings.
