Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Start by peeling and slicing your ripe peaches. Place them in a mixing bowl and add the sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat and let sit for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish. Spread the sliced peaches in the dish and pour the batter over the peaches. Do not stir.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
- You can use canned peaches, drained well, as a quick alternative.
- For a crunchy topping, sprinkle chopped nuts on before baking.
