Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Gel food coloring (assorted colors, such as red, blue, and green)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then gradually add the flour until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract. Divide the cream cheese mixture into smaller bowls and add different gel food colors to each, mixing until each bowl has a vibrant, even color.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of the colored cream cheese mixtures randomly over the brownie batter. Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl the colors together.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Don’t over-swirl: Aim for a defined yet blended pattern.
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
- Cool completely before cutting to prevent crumbling.
- Experiment with different color combinations for a unique swirl.
