Creamy Chicken Broccoli Tortellini is a quick and delicious 20-minute weeknight dinner featuring tender chicken, fresh broccoli, and cheesy tortellini in a rich, creamy sauce. Perfect for busy families, this easy recipe combines wholesome ingredients with simple steps for a satisfying meal that everyone will love.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) of cheese tortellini
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Mince the garlic and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning if using. Cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil if needed. Sauté the broccoli florets for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. Meanwhile, cook the tortellini according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. In the skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in Parmesan cheese and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  5. Return the cooked chicken and broccoli to the skillet. Add the cooked tortellini and toss everything gently to coat with the creamy sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes until heated through and well combined.

Notes

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, add a splash of milk or cream and warm gently on the stove or microwave. For best texture, consume fresh, as the tortellini may become soggy if stored too long.
  • Feel free to customize this dish by swapping broccoli with spinach or other vegetables like cherry tomatoes or bell peppers. Extra cheese or herbs such as basil or parsley can be added for additional flavor.
