Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Optional toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into your desired shape, keeping the edges slightly thicker for a crispy crust.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the pizza base, sprinkle with mozzarella, and add desired toppings. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
Notes
- To store leftovers, place the pizza in an airtight container or wrap it in plastic wrap. It can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes to restore crispiness.
- Serve with a fresh salad or garlic bread and pair with Italian wine for a complete meal.
